Cause
Before jumping into this knowledge base to check for a warped cutting deck, be sure to follow the link at the bottom for the deck leveling procedure to ensure the deck is properly leveled for the customer.
1. Pre check to verify there is no signs of customer abuse, impact, or damage to the cutter deck.
2. Safely gain access to underneath of the cutter deck. Removing the cutter deck is recommended.
3. Install new OEM Ferris cutter deck blades per the products Parts Manual.
4. Aline all three cutter blades facing north and south, reference the generic image below. Sketch yourself several similar images for use later on.
5. Measure from the cutter deck blade tips to the cutter deck shell, reference the generic image below. You will have a total of six measurement readings.
6. Record the measurements on one of the sketches you created.
7. Aline all three cutter deck blades east and west. reference the generic image below. Sketch yourself several similar images for use later on.
8. Measure from the center deck blade tips to the cutter deck shell, see generic image referenced in step 4. You will have a total of six measurement readings.
9. Record the measurements on one of the sketches you created.
10. The measurement readings should be no greater than 1/4" of one another. If any of the measurement readings are not within 1/4" of one another, swap the spindle and the cutter deck blade located in the incorrect reading cavity to one of the other two spindle locations.
11. Repeat steps 3 to 7. This will verify if the spindle is bent, if the spindle is bent then the measurement reading will follow that particular spindle. If no change in measurement readings then the cutter deck is warped.
